PARK SLOPE — Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (BKCM) announced its fall lineup, which includes a variety of concerts, parties and events. The highlight of the fall programming is the BCM House Party, the conservatory’s annual fundraiser.

The BKCM is a non-profit community music school located on Seventh Avenue in a historic Park Slope brownstone. BKCM offers music classes, events and music therapy, and its goal is to provide Brooklynites with access to music education and therapy regardless of age, skill level or income.

This fall, the BKCM curated a selection of events and programs kicking off with “Off the Chamber,” a concert series made up of nonstandard combinations of instruments. Founded and directed by composers Ethan D’Ver and Zach Hicks, the Saturday, Sept. 14, program includes Benjamin Britten’s “Gemini Variations” for flute, violin and piano; Camille Saint-Saens’s “Caprice sur des Airs Danois et Russes” for flute, oboe, clarinet and piano; and world premieres of pieces by Ukrainian composer Alexander Rodin, composer and pianist Felix Jarrar and composer and flutist Zach Hicks. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the BKCM concert hall. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and $15 for children, students and seniors.

For parents of preschool aged children born in 2020, the BKCM is hosting four “Turning Five Talks.” The information sessions educate parents on how to approach kindergarten programming, especially for children with special education services or therapy. The sessions are hosted by Sarah Birnbaum of New York Special Needs Support, attorney Greg Cangiano of Skyer Law, and neuropsychologists Dr. Laura Tagliareni and Dr. David Salsberg. Registration is free, and the sessions take place on Sept. 16, Sept. 26, Oct. 8, and Oct. 23, all at 6:30 p.m.

On Sept. 27, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the BKCM concert hall, Alan Thompson will host a sound bath for participants aged 16 and older. “Oreka Sound Bath” is a 90-minute immersive and therapeutic experience. Participants are encouraged to bring yoga mats, although soft blankets will be provided, and to wear warm, loose clothing. Thompson is a licensed psychotherapist and music therapist. The sound bath experience uses auditory and breathing techniques to slow the brain and release tension. Tickets cost $40 per person and participants should arrive 15 minutes early.

Tickets are $20 for those over 18, and $15 for those 18 and under.

Ending the fall season with a bang, BKCM’s annual fundraiser House Party takes place on Nov. 7, for its ninth year. Tickets are $500 per person or $1,000 for a VIP ticket, and all proceeds go to fund BKCM’s mission to make music education and therapy accessible to all. The event includes 34 musical acts and access to five floors of the BKCM’s historic brownstone, where food and drinks flow all night.
