The Target Margin Theater company was involved in a real-life production that sounded like the plot of a memorable play. And it had a happy ending.

After five years of searching for a new home, Target Margin Theater now has a permanent performance space right here in Brooklyn.

The theater company has moved into an industrial building at 232 52nd St. and has named the performance space the DOXSEE Theater in memory honor of Lenore Doxsee (1965-2017), a founding member of the theater company.

Target Margin Theater was founded more than 25 years ago.

Its new home was found after an exhaustive search for the perfect spot, according to founder and Artistic Director David Herskovits.

“Having a permanent home finally gives us the freedom to work on each project just as it demands. The space is a natural result of the growth of our mission. Target Margin now involves more artists than ever, with fellowship, community and production programs, growing steadily in recent years,” Herskovits said in a statement.

The theater company’s new headquarters boasts a 3,250-square-foot performance space capped by an 18-foot-high ceiling, as well as two rehearsal studios and office space.

“Target Margin has matured into a more diverse and democratic company. The building gives us a real, local home for the first time ever. Alternative performances spaces where young talent can make work on the cheap are vanishing. The DOXSEE will help fill that void and keep New York City at the forefront of theatrical innovation,” Herskovits stated.

The creative team plans to make a big splash in its new home by offering productions of cutting-edge theater works.

In conjunction with the announcement of its big move to Sunset Park, Target Margin Theater also announced its 2017-2018 schedule.

Following a Grand Opening Festival, which was scheduled to take place Nov. 9 to 11, the company’s season will be in full swing.

Upcoming productions will include “The Thousand and One Nights,” a collection of stories from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. “One Night,” which opens on March 22, will examine folk tales. It will run through April 23. Another presentation, “1001 LABS,” will run from May 31 to June 23 and will feature four productions of various tales led by four different artists.

The theater company will also be offering free community-focused events in early 2018.

Led by Herskovits, Associate Artistic Director Moe Yousuf and General Manager Lu Liu, Target Margin Theater is known for its interpretations of classic works, its performances of lesser-known works and its commitment to presenting new plays, according to a company press release.

A new residency program has been established to provide space for other theater companies to develop new works.

Target Margin Theater has worked with more than 1,000 artists over the years through its LAB Festival. In addition, the company offers a fellowship program to talented artists seeking to improve their craft.

Prior to finding a permanent new home in Brooklyn, the theater company worked in more than 20 theaters and 50 rehearsal studios in three of the five boroughs.
