Cannon salute from Ft. Hamilton Bluff kicks off Fleet Week NY
FORT HAMILTON, NY — CANNONS FIRED FROM the Fort Hamilton Bluff made a stirring “Salute to Ships” and kicked off Fleet Week NY 2024 Wednesday morning. The cannon salute celebrated the U.S. Navy’s entry into the harbor as the Parade of Ships passed the Narrows/Verrazano Bridge. U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton, in partnership with the Bay Ridge Community, hosted the 9th NY Field Artillery Regiment, Veteran Corp of Artillery State of NY, as it fired blank 75mm rounds.
Ship tours and maritime military events take place across the city from May 22-28.
