CITYWIDE — AN AIR QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY has been issued by the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for Friday, June 14, for the entire New York City metropolitan area, including Brooklyn. DEC says the pollutant of concern is ozone, which is edging up to the 101 level, rated “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” (On Thursday, the ozone level was 67, rated “moderate.”) Sensitive groups include children and teens, the elderly, pregnant people, those with lung or heart conditions, asthmatics, people who exercise or work outdoors, and those in disadvantaged communities.  The agency advises people in these categories to make outdoor activities shorter and less intense and to watch for symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath.
