BOROUGHWIDE — VIEWERS OF CURRENTS NEWS, a nightly Catholic television newscast of the Brooklyn Diocese’s DeSales Media, will have the chance to vote on their favorite “School Year in Review” story during a broadcast this Friday, June 14, at 7 p.m. The hour-long special, with anchor Christine Persichette as host, will highlight the achievements of students and educators within the Catholic schools and academies throughout Brooklyn and Queens, which are both part of the diocese.

Among the featured stories: A profile of a Grammy Award-winning musician who is a Class of 2024 valedictorian; a Brooklyn family who transferred their child to a Catholic school following an expansion of inclusive classrooms; a special message from the mother of Blessed Carlo Acutis — the soon-to-be first millennial saint — to a particular student; and a visit to a Catholic school that represents the “Diocese of Immigrants,” which bucks a struggle that elite NYC public schools have had with diversity. Viewers can vote online starting at noon on June 14.

“School Year in Review” gives the Diocese of Brooklyn the chance to share the positive news of Catholic education with family and friends. “Let’s talk about how Catholic education in Queens and Brooklyn is creating a ‘Foundation for Life’ for the leaders of tomorrow,” said Deacon Kevin McCormack, the diocesan superintendent of schools.
