CITY HALL — BROOKLYN COUNCILMEMBER JUSTIN BRANNAN (D-Coney Island, Bay Ridge) is leading the City Council’s campaign to restore cuts to the city budget, based on Council figures showing a billion dollars more in city revenue than projected by Mayor Adams’ administration, News1 reports. Brannan, chair of the council’s finance committee, is insisting on restoring cuts to multiple sectors, such as education, cultural affairs, libraries, parks and recreation, aging and sanitation. Brannan told NY1 Thursday that he didn’t know why the Council was being met with such resistance, “especially since the money is there.”

“We’re not asking for rainbows and unicorns here, right. We’re asking for the garbage to get picked up. We’re asking to restore money to early childhood education, to our libraries, to CUNY, to our parks,” he said.
