SUNSET PARK — SUBWAY TRAINS REPORTEDLY STRUCK at least two people in different parts of the city during Wednesday’s evening hour, affecting several lines, including in Brooklyn. NOTIFY NYC sent out alerts saying that B, D, N and R service was affected. MTA.info at 5:45 p.m. reported that trains were “running with severe delays in both directions after emergency teams responded to someone who was struck by a train at 53rd St.” There are two stations numbered 53rd St.: one in Sunset Park on the 4th Avenue BMT line, and one on Manhattan’s East Side, serving the F train. However, only the Sunset Park station services the R train. D and N trains are express lines.
An unrelated incident near the Cathedral Parkway station on Manhattan’s far Upper West Side was also reported that affected the B train. The station serves the vicinity of the Cathedral of St. John Divine and Columbia University. This collision has affected trains in both directions on the A, B, C and D trains.

Brooklyn Boro
View MoreNew York City’s most populous borough, Brooklyn, is home to nearly 2.6 million residents. If Brooklyn were an independent city it would be the fourth largest city in the United States. While Brooklyn has become the epitome of ‘cool and hip’ in recent years, for those that were born here, raised families here and improved communities over the years, Brooklyn has never been ‘uncool’.
