Brooklyn legal community’s suit drive continues, donations still needed

The Brooklyn legal community has swiftly gathered more than 50 suits in just the first three days of a suit drive, aiming to support individuals reentering society from the justice system. 

Spearheaded by Michael Farkas and Melina Alexis-Hayes of the District Attorney’s Office, this effort is a collaboration among several local legal organizations, including the Brooklyn Bar Association, the Kings County Criminal Bar Association, Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Kings County Supreme Court, Brooklyn Defender Services and the Legal Aid Society of Brooklyn.

Community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used men’s suits, dress shirts, ties, and shoes to help equip these individuals for job interviews and new employment opportunities. Donations can still be made at the following locations on specific dates:

  • KCDA lobby at 350 Jay St: May 1-3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Brooklyn Supreme Court at 320 Jay St.: May 8-10, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This ongoing initiative provides vital support to those overcoming barriers to reintegration and independence, aiding their successful return to the workforce.
