GOWANUS EXPRESSWAY — THE HAMILTON AVE. EXIT linking the westbound Prospect Expressway with the Gowanus Expressway will be closed for repairs during several overnight periods this week, reports the NY State Department of Transportation. The DOT will close the Exit 1 (Hamilton Avenue) ramp from the westbound Prospect Expressway (NY Route 27) to Gowanus Expressway (I-278) in Brooklyn, on or about Wednesday, May 22, through Friday, May 24, from 12:01 a.m. through 5 a.m., weather permitting. These closures are necessary to facilitate work on NYSDOT’S concrete pavement preservation project at various locations in New York City. Traffic will be detoured at Exit 2 (4th Avenue/3rd Avenue) and rerouted along Prospect Avenue to Hamilton Avenue. Motorists should follow the signed detour.

Inclement weather could cause these closures to be rescheduled. Although thunderstorms are forecast in New York City for Thursday, the timing of their development has not yet been determined.
