BROOKLYN HEIGHTS BROOKLYN RESIDENT AND Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar has broken industry records with the new hit single “Not Like Us,” reports Billboard, taking the single-day streaming record for a hip-hop song on Spotify, with 6.8 million plays, and contending for the top spot on Billboard’s upcoming Hot 100 weekly rankings;

The track airs grievances with Canadian megastar Drake and is one of several climbing the charts related to a long-simmering beef between the two.

Both parties have exchanged serious allegations during the battle of words: Lamar, in “Not Like Us” and three previous songs, accused Drake and his associates of inappropriate behavior with underage girls, as well as having an unacknowledged daughter, while Drake leveled the charge that Lamar hit his wife; neither has thus far offered evidence for these claims, leaving fans struggling to parse the truth – and awaiting future releases.

Lamar last year purchased the penthouse apartment in Brooklyn Bridge Park’s luxury Pierhouse building, paying $8.6 million through an LLC for the four-bedroom condo, which offers panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, as well as five-star amenities like 2,000 square feet of private outdoor space, a chef’s kitchen and access to the rooftop pool of neighboring 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.
