CITYWIDE — MANY OF THE 13 people Mayor Eric Adams appointed to an influential Charter Revision Commission are loyalists or have ties to his inner circle, the New York Times reports. “Roughly half are campaign donors, three are lobbyists with business before the city, and several are longtime allies, including three women who publicly defended the mayor after he was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit,” the Times said. The new commission “was a direct response to the City Council’s intention to subject more mayoral appointments to advice and consent,” Lincoln Restler (D-Greenpoint, Brooklyn Heights) told Politico on Tuesday.

The CRC will be chaired by Brooklyn’s Carlo Scissura, CEO of the New York Building Congress. Other members include Dr. Hazel N. Dukes (Vice Chair); Ken Ngai (Secretary); Kyle Bragg, SEIU; Brooklyn’s Rev. Herbert Daughtry Sr.; Ruben Díaz Jr.; Lorraine Grillo, recently Adams’ first deputy mayor; Christopher B. Lynch, NYC Correction’s, retired; Max Rose (former South Brooklyn/Staten Island Congressman); Jackie Rowe-Adams; Bedford-Stuyvesant’s Bishop Gerald G. Seabrooks; Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz and Stephanie McGraw, CEO of a Harlam domestic violence organization.
