CITY HALL — INGRID LEWIS-MARTIN, LONGTIME AIDE AND CHIEF ADVISER to Mayor Eric Adams, abruptly resigned on Sunday, Dec. 15, ahead of a New York Times story that Manhattan prosecutors could seek an indictment against her as soon as this week, 1010WINS reports. Lewis-Martin’s resignation statement, which was issued before the Times story was published, said  that she planned to spend more time with her family, and did not mention the investigation.

According to the Times, Manhattan prosecutors investigating corruption allegations against Lewis-Martin have presented evidence to a grand jury and could seek an indictment this week. Last September, the Brooklyn Eagle reported that law enforcement officials removed materials from her East Flatbush home, but she was not home at the time. Federal investigators served her with the subpoena papers at JFK airport at that time.

Lewis-Martin had served as Mayor Adams’ chief adviser since the start of his administration in 2022. Considered the second most powerful person at City Hall, she was responsible for overseeing appointments, human resources and managing projects in collaboration with deputy mayors. City Hall described Lewis-Martin as “a crisis manager who gets things done,” reported the Times.
