Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio joined worshippers for the 20th Way of the Cross procession over the Brooklyn Bridge on Friday, April 3 to commemorate Good Friday.

This year’s procession, formed to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as well as emulate his walk to Calvary, began at 10 a.m. at St. James Cathedral-Basilica in downtown Brooklyn. During the rainy morning, somber attendees made their way across the Brooklyn Bridge, with the person in the lead carrying a wooden cross.

Following the march across the bridge, the procession passed through 9/11 Memorial Plaza, then concluded at St. Peter’s Church at 1:30 pm.
