
CANARSIE — A 50-YEAR-OLD MAN was critically injured after being shot by police in Canarsie Friday night, following reports of gunfire near East 80th Street and Flatlands Avenue, according to ABC News.
The incident began around 9:45 p.m. when officers responding to the gunfire saw the man leaving a convenience store. He allegedly fled upon spotting them, prompting a pursuit. Police say the man hid behind a tree, pointed a gun at a sergeant and ignored commands to drop the weapon. At least four officers then fired; the man was struck in the stomach.
The suspect was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition. Police reportedly recovered two firearms at the scene, including a ghost gun.
