
Sheepshead Bay Jewish community joins groups around U.S. in vigil

SHEEPSHEAD BAY — MEMBERS OF THE SHEEPSHEAD BAY JEWISH COMMUNITY held a vigil and memorial walk at Holocaust Memorial Park to commemorate the victims of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack, reports the Brooklyn Paper. The “Run for Their Lives” event also called for the release of 97 hostages still held by Hamas. The grassroots organization behind the event, founded in San Francisco, holds weekly walks worldwide demanding the hostages’ release. According to the website for Run for Their Lives Brooklyn has several chapters in addition to the Sheepshead Bay group: with groups in Marine Park, Williamsburg and Park Slope.
The Oct. 7, 2023, attack, which killed 1,200 people and saw 251 individuals kidnapped, is considered the deadliest act of violence against Jews since the Holocaust.
