Contest showcases ‘A Moment in Time’ at history-rich Green-Wood Cemetery

GREENWOOD HEIGHTS — AVID PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE INVITED TO CAPTURE “A MOMENT IN TIME” at the iconic Green-Wood Cemetery’s photography contest, running through the end of August. The Green-Wood Cemetery, in collaboration with Printique, an Adorama company, has launched the photography contest, named “A Moment in Time,” for novice and expert photographers alike, to capture the wonder and excitement of exploring the beauty, history, and vibrant life within Green-Wood, which is named on the National Register of Historic Places. Participants are encouraged to submit images that showcase their perspectives of this storied landmark and beloved community green space. It can be a striking monument, such as a bird frozen mid-flight, a concert in the Catacombs, or the serene beauty of a stroll through the cemetery, or the vistas from Battle Hill. The contest runs through Aug. 30, 2024, with an 11:59 p.m. deadline. A panel of staff members from Green-Wood and Printique will select ten winning photographs to be prominently displayed along Green-Wood’s fence this fall, for a community outdoor exhibition celebrating the historic landmark. Winners will be notified via email after Aug. 30, 2024. Those wishing to enter the contest may learn more online.

Participants must reside in the Greater New York City area. The limit is one submission per person. AI-generated photographs are prohibited. Only photographs of Green-Wood Cemetery will be selected.
