B/Q trains now bypassing Church Ave. station as MTA begins ADA-related upgrades
PROSPECT PARK SOUTH — THE CHURCH AVENUE EXPRESS TRAIN STATION ON THE B&Q lines is now undergoing upgrades and accessibility improvements, including the installation of two new street-to-platform elevators. Accordingly, the MTA announced train service changes that were scheduled to begin this Sunday, Aug. 4 through early 2025. Crews will install two new street-to-platform elevators, two new stairways, a new fare control area, ADA compliance upgrades to existing boarding areas, platform edges, sidewalks and stairways along with agent booth upgrades. The project will allow for increased accessibility for riders of all mobility, improved commuter flow, modernized design and improved visibility and enhanced safety with new platform edges. Coney Island-bound B express trains will run local between the Prospect Park station and the Kings Highway station in both directions and will bypass Church Ave. station. During this time, southbound Q local trains will also bypass Church Ave. Beginning fall 2024 and continuing through the end of the year, northbound B and Q trains will bypass Church Ave.
Commuters who rely on B/Q service can use the MTA website or their mobile apps to reroute around the Church Ave. station, such as taking the train to the next southbound stop (Beverley Road) and switching to a northbound train or the next northbound stop (Parkside Ave.) in early fall.
