Senate Majority Leader Schumer: Ruling undermines SCOTUS credibility
CAPITOL HILL — SENATE MAJORITY LEADER CHUCK SCHUMER, New York’s senior senator and Brooklyn native, condemned the SCOTUS ruling on Monday that granted presidents broad immunity as “a disgraceful decision” made with the help of the three Trump-appointed justices. “This is a sad day for America and our democracy. The very basis of our judicial system is that no one is above the law. Treason or incitement of insurrection should not be considered a core constitutional power afforded to a president,” said Schumer according to The Hill.
Schumer also warned that Monday’s decision “undermines SCOTUS’s credibility and suggests political influence trumps all in our courts today,” he wrote on X.
