SUNSET PARK — FIGHTING WHAT SHE SAYS IS ILLEGAL DUMPING IN PARTS OF HER DISTRICT, City Councilmember Susan Zhuang (D-43) held a press conference Friday afternoon, June 28, at the Wang Hao Restaurant near Sunset Park’s 8th Avenue to strategize on ways to clean up the area. Meeting at Better Brooklyn, 717 61st Street, Zhuang and attendees also discussed illegal vending and the rise in unlawful dumping outside storefronts and on sidewalks.  They also took a brief walking tour where Zhuang pointed out illegal vending on 8th Avenue. Zhuang is leading a new initiative to educate vendors on city vending laws, providing training in both English and Chinese.

Zhuang said, “We must work together to create tangible, effective solutions that protect small businesses and keep our streets clean. This is a tremendous first step in helping vendors understand the laws and provide the tools needed to help them get proper licensing and adhere to city regulations.”
