BUSHWICK — A BROOKLYN MAN reportedly in financial trouble held an employee and a customer at a Bushwick check-cashing store hostage for several hours on Saturday, reports ABC News. The attempted robber, identified to the New York Post as Ronaldo Estudillo Morales, posed as a customer before revealing a gun later determined to be fake and barricading the store entrance. Police arrived at the scene after a second employee was able to escape and call 911; although Morales at one point aimed the fake gun at a hostage and at an officer, police, with the assistance of Morales’ family members, were able to negotiate his peaceful surrender and exit via a back window.

No serious injuries were reported, although Morales began hyperventilating after arrest and was taken to a hospital; he has been charged with attempted robbery and two counts of kidnapping.
