KENYA — Plastic waste: Delegates took photos in front of a giant art sculpture showing a tap outpouring plastic bottles, each of which was picked up in the neighborhood of Kibera, during the U.N. Environment Assembly held at the U.N. Environment Programme headquarters in Nairobi, on Wednesday. Delegates met to discuss a binding international framework to address the growing problem of plastic waste in the world’s oceans, rivers, and landscapes.

Millions of Filipinos trooped to churches and had their foreheads marked with an ash cross in observance of Ash Wednesday after a two-year ban on the lenten tradition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
