“One Month ‘Til” Bay Ridge St Patrick’s Day Parade celebration at the Leif Bar
There’s less than a month to go until the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and the parade committee celebrated the countdown with a “One Month ‘Til Parade Day” event at the Leif Bar (6725 Fifth Avenue) this past weekend.
The parade’s committee is comprised of volunteers who are active members in the community who work to promote their Irish heritage through a series of events throughout the year, culminating with the annual parade, now in its 24th year.
The event was headlined by a featured performance by Brooklyn’s own, and local favorite, the Canny Brothers Band, as a part of its “Go Big Or Go Home” tour.
The Leif was packed with attendees, including committee members, this year’s parade marshals and honorees and State Senator Marty Golden. All money raised will go towards the parade, the committee for which is part of a 501(c)3 non-profit.
Brendan Moloney, recording secretary for the committee, told this paper, “Sunday’s fundraiser at the Leif was an enormously successful event that brought our community together in support of this great parade. It couldn’t have been accomplished without the support and help of bar owners Mike Gallagher and Kenny Graham and of course the Canny Brothers Band. It was an incredible way to kick off our month-long St. Patrick Day celebrations!”
The Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade continues its month-long march to the parade with the annual dinner dance this Saturday, March 4 at Dyker Beach Golf Course. If you would like to attend, tickets are $125. Email [email protected] for all individual ticket and table sale inquiries.
Parade day is Sunday, March 26 along Third Avenue – starting at 1 p.m. on Marine Avenue and ending on 67th Street.
