In an act of love and generosity, senior citizens from the Sunset Park Neighborhood Center devoted four months to knitting baby blankets for new moms in need, according to officials at NYU Lutheran, who said the seniors recently visited NYU Lutheran Family Health Centers Women and Children’s Services to personally hand deliver the blankets to moms.

A total of 11 hand-woven blankets, six for girls and five for boys, were presented to the new moms at the program’s Sunset Park location at 5610 Second Ave.

Since 2013, seniors at Sunset Park Neighborhood Center, a facility sponsored by NYU Lutheran and located at 4520 Fourth Ave., have been taking part in crochet classes, where they make baby items.
