MetroTech Commons has played host to many big Brooklyn cultural and technology events and gatherings, from the World Science Festival and BAM’s R&B Festival to Public Art Fund exhibits and more. On Monday, December 2, crowds gathered again, this time for the 24th annual MetroTech holiday tree lighting.

The 55-foot tall, beribboned Norway Spruce grown in North Carolina was all alight in gold as children, students, and local businessowners watched. Also on hand to celebrate were Santa Claus, the Brooklyn Tech High School Chorus, Brooklyn Nets player Shaun Livingston, Tony Award-winning poet and playwright Lemon Andersen, and Forest City Ratner Companies executives. Hot chocolate and cookies were provided by Luciano’s and Starbucks.

The tree will remain alight throughout the holiday season and is located in front of 2 MetroTech Center, between Jay Street and Flatbush Avenue, and Willoughby Street and Tech Place.
