Call him inspector – Rodriguez promoted
Eric Rodriguez, the former commanding officer of the 68th Precinct, who is now serving as the 70th Precincts top cop, has been promoted to inspector.
Rodriguez, who served the Bay Ridge/Dyker Heights Precinct for four years and nine months, beginning in October, 2006, got word of his promotion on Friday, January 25. He has been at the helm of the 70th Precinct, which covers Flatbush and Midwood, since June, 2011.
Im very excited, Rodriguez told this paper. Im proud of the accomplishment, because of the work of the cops in the command. Its humbling to get recognized for work when so many people have been involved in it.
Its great news, noted Josephine Beckmann, district manager of Community Board 10. Its to our benefit that he was here for nearly five years. He did such a great job here, and Ive heard great things about what he has done in the 70thPrecinct. Im glad he was recognized for what he has done there.
Rodriguez was given a grand send-off by community leaders in this area in October, 2011, with a large party at the Bay Ridge Manor, that was dubbed Erics bar mitzvah by one of the organizers, Democratic District Leader Dilia Schack.
During the event, speaker after speaker posited a bright future for Rodriguez, even suggesting he might someday be police commissioner, something that had Rodriguez noting, when he took the microphone, Commissioner, I do not want your job. I am very happy where I am right now.
