A woman and a 5-year-old child were injured when a building's security gate fell on them in Brooklyn.

It happened at about 4 p.m. in front of the Cat Clinic, at the corner of Fifth Avenue and President Street.

The 16-foot wide roll down gate frame somehow separated from the building and struck the two on the sidewalk.

Fire officials say the woman, believed to be the child's nanny, was struck in the head. The child sustained a foot injury. Both were taken to Lutheran Hospital in serious condition.

In May, a 12-year-old Brooklyn boy was crushed to death when he got caught in an electronic roll-up gate.
