The IFC cable channel announced today that it will be teaming up with BAM to offer a new free comedy series that will showcase emerging and prominent comics at BAMcafé.

“Get It Out There: Comedy by IFC & BAM” will kick off on April 25 at 9 p.m. and return six times throughout the year.

Caroline Creaghead, the curator of “Get It Out There,” told The New York Times that the new event hopes to give space for performers “who are figuring out what their voice is, who have a distinctive persona and are giving voice to ideas you wouldn’t necessarily see other places.”

The inaugural showcase, to be hosted by Jared Logan, will feature Wyatt Cenac (of “The Daily Show with John Stewart”), Mike Lawrence, Damien Lemon and Giulia Rozzi.

“Get It Out There” will attempt to highlight and bolster Brooklyn’s growing cachet as a comedy destination.

“Comedy exists in Brooklyn – both the volume and the range of things happening – is something we want to emphasize. But it’s not like you have to have a mailing address in Brooklyn to be on the show,” Creaghead told the Times.

Future shows, with lineups to be announced, are scheduled for May 30, June 27, Sept. 12, Oct. 3, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5.

BAMcafé is at 30 Lafayette Ave.
