Commissioner of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Laurie Cumbo practiced making a grand entrance at Industry City. 2025 marks her fifth time going to The Met Gala. She first attended at 16 as an intern for The Metropolitan Museum of Art and this year is her fourth time attending as NYC Commissioner of Cultural Affairs. This year’s invitation-only Met Gala and the exhibit that opens May 10 focus on reinventing Black male fashion style, away from conventional norms, but with both men and women showing the style’s bold, colorful designs.
