Wegmans chocolate nonpareils recalled for undeclared milk

NATIONWIDE — A CHOCOLATE CONFECTION SOLD AT WEGMANS (which has a store at the Brooklyn Navy Yard campus) is being recalled because it contains an undeclared milk allergen, the FDA announced last week.
Mellace Family Brands California, Inc. of Warren, Ohio is recalling Wegmans Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product with the lot codes shown below, although no illnesses have been reported to date.
This product was distributed through Wegmans retail stores in New York, as well as other mid-Atlantic states as far as North Carolina, is packaged in an 18.5oz plastic tub labeled Wegmans Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils (Lot codes 55021, 55031, 55491, 55501, 56061 and 56071).
The recall was initiated after the discovery of a milk allergen and was distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of milk. A subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the suppliers’ manufacturing process. The affected lot codes had best-by dates ranging from Dec. 28, 2025 to April 12, 2026.
Customers who bought the affected product can bring it to their local Wegmans store for a refund.
