EAST NEW YORK — A 20-year-old woman allegedly assaulted on the Norwood Avenue subway platform on Sunday, June 29, is asking why the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Fredrick Marshall of Queens, has been released.
A video of the incident appears to show a man attempting to pull the woman down a subway platform while bear-hugging her, before bystanders intervene to pull him off of her and help her escape. Speaking to CBS News, the victim said Marshall told her “You’re mine now, you’re coming with me,” during the assault. Police allegedly found a knife and blackjack on Marshall following his arrest. He was charged with multiple counts, including assault and harassment, but was given supervised release. The victim says she is seeking an order of protection, while her job has been paying for her to take Ubers.
“About the guys that stepped in, I’m very, very, very thankful because without them, I would not be home […] It’s unacceptable. It’s really insane to me how they could just release somebody after they did that,” the victim told CBS.
