NY lawmakers urge SkyHop Global to negotiate in good faith with airport shuttle drivers

CITYWIDE — SKYHOP GLOBAL MUST negotiate in good faith with the shuttle drivers at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International and Newark International airports, says a delegation of New York Congressmembers. The delegation’s letter to SkyHop Global, which Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-07) shared, was sent after its shuttle employees went on strike last November following a series of disputes over wages and labor practices.
SkyHop workers in May 2024 voted to unionize with Teamsters Local 210; but almost a year later are still without a contract. The 60 SkyHop Global drivers, most of whom are Black, Asian and other persons of color, provide critical shuttle services for airline crew members at New York City area airports. The strike began in November after the company repeatedly refused to bargain in good faith over wages, job security and a union contract. Alleging retaliation from SkyHop, the employees filed more than 20 cases with the National Labor Relations Board and the NY State Dept. of Labor.
The Congressional letter warns SkyHop’s corporate leadership that continued disruption harms workers and the broader travel network that depends on these essential services. Signers include Brooklyn Reps. Yvette Clarke (D-9) and Dan Goldman (D-10); and Jerry Nadler (D-12).
