Enoki mushroom packages from Columbia St. plant recalled for possible Listeria contamination

RED HOOK AND NATIONWIDE — A FOOD RECALL AFFECTS A MUSHROOM PRODUCT FROM A BROOKLYN COMPANY.
Harvest NYC Inc., whose address on Google shows a Columbia St. waterfront address, has recalled its 200-gram packages of enoki mushrooms, because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
The contamination was discovered after samples were collected from a store in Buffalo, and subsequent analysis by the state Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Laboratory revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in some of the product packages. However, to date, no illnesses have been reported.
The recalled enoki mushrooms were distributed nationwide in retail stores. The product comes in a 200g, green plastic package marked with UPC Barcode 6975730520101 on the back label, distributed by Hofood99 Inc., 21903 56th Ave Oakland Gardens, NY 11364.
Consumers who have purchased 200g packages of enoki mushrooms between Jan. 11 to 31, 2025 are urged to destroy the products immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
