London’s Chinatown, located near Covent Garden and the Royal Opera House, spans several blocks, bordered by Shaftsbury Avenue, Charing Cross Road, Lisle Street and Rupert St. It is near Piccadilly Circus as well.
LAS VEGAS — Only two things distract gamblers — comedy and violence: David Benavidez lands a left to David Morrell during a light heavyweight title boxing match on Feb. 1, 2025. David Benavidez defeated David Morrell “by unanimous decision.” With this championship, the 28-year-old Benavidez, who stands at 6 foot, 2 inches, holds the World Boxing Association light heavyweight title since February 2025 and the World Boxing Council interim light heavyweight title since 2024.
Benavidez also handed Morrell the first defeat of the latter boxer’s professional career.
PEBBLE BEACH — Back on the top of the heap: Rory McIlroy, of Northern Ireland, celebrates at Pebble Beach Golf Links after winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament, Feb. 2, 2025, California. McIlroy, who was making his 2025 PGA Tour debut, had a dominant final-round 6-under-66, securing a two-shot victory.

Rubio’s first foreign trip as Secretary of State is to assert that the U.S. wants to reclaim control over the Panama Canal. President Trump had Rubio reinforce his vow to “take back” the Panama Canal over a dispute concerning China’s presence and perceived control of the waterway. Congressional Republicans even introduced a bill to purchase the canal back from Panama, which had switched hands during the Carter administration.
Meanwhile, Panama’s president vowed Sunday to end a key development deal with China after meeting with Rubio.

World Wetlands Day, aiming to bring awareness to the need to reverse the degradation of these critical ecosystems, was observed Saturday and Sunday — officially celebrated on Feb. 2 — across several continents, including Virginia in the United States.
