NYC Commission on Human Rights launches survey to address discrimination
FLATBUSH — THE NYC COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS IS INVITING NEW YORKERS to participate in a citywide survey aimed at understanding their experiences with discrimination, according to Community Board 14. The “Understanding New Yorkers’ Experiences with Discrimination” survey, available in 10 languages, seeks to gather insights on where and why discrimination occurs, how people perceive it, and their willingness to report it. The survey is part of the Commission’s TogetherNYC campaign, which promotes actions to reduce and prevent discrimination throughout the city.
Survey participants are asked whether they have personally experienced discrimination or have witnessed it happening to another New Yorker, and they are asked what types of remediation or compensation the aggrieved person would want, among other questions. Responses will inform the Commission’s outreach and collaborations with other government agencies, with the goal of addressing and mitigating discriminatory practices in various aspects of daily life.
New Yorkers are encouraged to participate before the survey closes on Sept. 30. More information can be found on the city website and Cataydra Brown at [email protected] can respond to questions.
