SUNSET PARK — REP. DAN GOLDMAN (D-NY10) announced Monday a $3,233,991 federal grant that will expand early childhood Head Start programs in Sunset Park. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded the grant to the nonprofit Grand Street Settlement to expand two of its Sunset Park childcare programs, following a letter from Goldman to HHS Director Khari Garvin supporting the application. The funds will provide services to 130 additional children. Head Start and Early Head Start programs are free, federally funded programs designed to promote school readiness for infants, toddlers and preschoolers from low-income backgrounds.

Goldman has secured $9,036,948 for projects in NY-10 — which includes lower Manhattan and western Brooklyn from DUMBO to Sunset Park — in the 2024 Fiscal Year appropriations bill.
