The Nathan R. Sobel American Inns of Court recently convened its monthly Continuing Legal Education (CLE) meeting at the Brooklyn Bar Association, engaging members with a dynamic skit and discussion on the latest updates to New York State’s notary laws. Held on April 16, the session focused on the implications of the new rules that simplify procedures for legal documentation in civil cases.

Members of the Nathan R. Sobel Inn, known for their innovative approach to legal education through reenactments and interactive formats, explored how the changes could impact legal practices, particularly in the handling of affidavits and other sworn documents. The discussion was designed to equip legal professionals with the knowledge to navigate these updates effectively and understand their effects on both their work and their clients.

Amid challenges of declining membership and engagement, the Inn is striving to revitalize its community through relevant and engaging CLE sessions. The leadership, under Justice Joy Campanelli, is actively seeking strategies to boost involvement and ensure the organization’s sustainability. This includes enhancing the content of meetings to make them more pertinent to current legal issues and encouraging participation from a broader array of local legal professionals.
