On Jan. 25, Brooklyn Eagle food columnist and Editor-in-Chief of the “Good Food” newsletter, Andrew Cotto, presented his lecture “Italian Food as a Muse” at the Columbus Citizens Foundation (CCF), a non-profit organization that fosters appreciation of Italian-American heritage and achievement.
The event took place at the CCF townhouse, an opulent mansion constructed in 1893, located at 8 East 69th Street, and began with a reception on the second floor’s parlor where cocktails and hors d’oeuvers were served. At 6:30, the lights were dimmed, and all in attendance were asked to enter the adjacent library for the lecture.
Mr. Cotto’s presentation explained how, primarily through a serendipitous trip to Italy, he found his calling as a novelist and journalist through the device of Italian food and drink not only as a source of pleasure but also as one of wellness. Through pathos and humor, Mr. Cotto regaled the crowd of nearly 50 attendees with anecdotes from his personal experience while also sharing two food passages from his novel Cucina Tipica: An Italian Adventure.
