Genovese crime family associate sentenced to nine months in prison
Attorney General Letitia James announced the sentencing of Thomas Poli, a 65-year-old Bronx resident and an associate of the Genovese crime family, to nine months in prison for crimes related to fraud and bribery. Poli was found guilty of offering a false instrument for filing and commercial bribing in connection with a homeless services provider, Aguila Inc.
Poli’s conviction stems from a 2019 criminal charge where he falsely claimed to have completed court-ordered community service. Instead of fulfilling his obligations, Poli was involved in commercial bribery, securing contracts with Aguila for vending, storage and furniture, while he was supposed to be serving the community.
“Rather than honor his word and his plea agreement, Thomas Poli lied to the court and got others to lie on his behalf — all to get out of just a day of court-ordered community service,” said Attorney General James. “Now Poli must pay for his selfishness.”
