CityPickle, a well-known chain of pickleball courts, has set up its first Brooklyn outpost at Industry City’s Box Factory event space.

As the fastest-growing sport in America, pickleball welcomes a diverse range of players, ages 8 to 88 with varying physical capabilities and backgrounds, to Industry city. Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong on a badminton-size court that requires a net, paddle and wiffleball.

There already are pickleball courts in Sunset Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Coney Island, Bensonhurst, Crown Heights and elsewhere in Brooklyn, a testimony to the sport’s popularity.

From now through mid-December, CityPickle features seven indoor, professional Pickleball United courts in the Box Factory at Industry City, accommodating up to eight players per game.

The courts will be open Sunday through Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Court rentals are $80 per hour, which, with a full team in tow, translates to as little as $10 per person per game. Paddles are available to rent for $6 per paddle, or players are welcome to bring their own.

Courts are available for reservations at www.city-pickle.com.

The Industry City complex in Sunset Park currently houses more than 550 businesses and features multiple designated event spaces with a programming roster that includes cultural festivals, trade shows, film screenings, professional talks, live music, creative food and beverage experiences, and more.

“We are proud to host CityPickle’s first pop-up location in Brooklyn,” said Jim Somoza, managing director of Industry City. “Industry City continues to cultivate an environment of innovation and creativity and we are so excited to add CityPickle to our roster of top-tier amenities for tenants and activities for visitors.”

“Our mission at CityPickle is to bring the joy and community of pickleball to as many New Yorkers as possible. Launching in Industry City is a milestone moment for us that marks our first ever courts in Brooklyn, and we could not think of a more perfect location and partner,” said CityPickle co-founders Mary Cannon and Erica Desai.

CityPickle’s location at Industry City is co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Aces, described as a major-league pickleball team.

CityPickle also recently partnered with Wollman Rink in New York City’s Central Park to operate the largest pickleball installation in the Northeast, with 14 courts and 196 hours of play a day.
