Attorney General Letitia James has won a victory against pandemic profiteering this week when she secured a $100,000 settlement from Quality King Distributors, Inc. This wholesale grocery and drug distributor had been found guilty of dramatically increasing the prices of crucial Lysol products during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Serving a range of retailers, drug stores, and local grocery outlets throughout New York City and Long Island, Quality King was found to have inflated the prices of these necessary Lysol products by a shocking 5% amid the public health crisis.

Following a lawsuit against the company, an agreement has now been reached where Quality King will pay $100,000 to the state, ensuring nearly 1,500 New Yorkers, who bravely reported these high prices to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), will receive a fair reimbursement.

This action against Quality King is part of a broader initiative by Attorney General James to crack down on price gouging and protect New Yorkers from corporate opportunism. With newly announced price gouging regulations and previous warnings issued to various retailers for overcharging, the Attorney General’s office continues to champion economic justice for all.
