PROSPECT PARK — Prospect Park Track Club will present the 28th edition of the Cherry Tree 10 Miler & Relay Race on Sunday in Prospect Park. This beloved winter race involves running three loops of Prospect Park, or a relay team of three participants running one loop per person. In addition, sub-elite runner Roberta Groner will seek a new American Masters record for the 10 mile distance, for women ages 45-49.

Register for the Race

Groner, age 45, lives in New Jersey and runs for Central Park Track Club Tracksmith. She represented the US in the Women’s Marathon at the 2019 World Athletics Championship in Doha, Qatar, finishing 6th overall.  Her fastest marathon time is 2:29:09 at the 2019 Rotterdam Marathon. In 2022, Roberta completed the Bronx 10 Mile Race in 56:41 and was recognized as the top local runner in the women 40-44 age category at the 2023 New York Road Runners Club Night. The current US record of 57:09 for women ages 45-49 was set in 2010 in Redding, CA. Prospect Park Track Club is pleased to support this record-setting attempt and to see it take place in Brooklyn’s backyard! The Cherry Tree 10 Miler & Relay Race course is certified and is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event.

Prospect Park Track Club is proud to support community partners through its races. This year, the Cherry Tree 10 Miler & Relay Race will support Prospect Park Alliance and Growhouse NYC. Prospect Park Alliance provides critical support to the club’s namesake park, and keeps the park green and vibrant for the diverse communities that call Brooklyn home. GrowHouse NYC is a Brooklyn-based organization founded in 2017 and empowers Black people and allies to become developers of our communities through collective ownership of artistic production, neighborhood real estate and land, businesses, and cultural institutions. Prospect Park Track Club encourages participants to make an additional donation to these organizations at registration.
