A longtime assistant district attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, Michael Ryan, is set to join the bench as a judge and his colleagues are holding a party to celebrate his career move.

“Mike Ryan has had a storied 28-year career in the Brooklyn DA’s Office, the last decade of which he served with distinction as the Chief of Criminal Court,” said Darran Winslow, president of the Kings County Criminal Bar Association.

“A longtime dedicated member of the KCCBA, he is known as much for his encyclopedic knowledge of the law, as for his fairness to defense counsel and prosecutors alike,” Winslow continued. “His commitment to justice is second to none and we couldn’t ask for a better judge to serve the citizens of New York City.”
