Peter Luger to open first international location in Tokyo
Peter Luger Steak House, one of the most famous and long-lived restaurants not only in Brooklyn but in the entire city, plans to open its first international location in Tokyo by 2020. The steakhouse near the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge attracts visitors from around the world, but as of now, it has only one other location in Great Neck, Long Island, according to Food & Wine.
Amy Rubenstein, CEO of Peter Luger, cited Tokyo’s demand for American beef as a factor in the company’s new expansion, Food & Wine reported.
“Among Japanese consumers, the award-winning Peter Luger brand is already synonymous with unsurpassed American dry-aged beef, and the New York restaurants are frequently ranked among the top must-visit spots in Asian publications,” said Michio Akimoto, COO of Wondertable Ltd., Peter Luger’s Japanese partner in the venture.
