~STROLL BAY RIDGE’S ‘BLUE BLOODS’ STREET WHERE TOM SELLECK ‘LIVES’: Is it time for dinner yet? For “Blue Bloods” fans, 82nd Street in Bay Ridge will first, foremost and forever be the place where New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan lives. The high-profile Gingerbread House, which is right down the road, is pretty great, too. But the 1920s Colonial-style brick house on the corner of 82nd Street and Harbor View Terrace is the fictional home of the head of the “Blue Bloods” clan, played by Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winner Tom Selleck. We recently toured the iconic block(via Brooklyn Eagle)

~BROOKLYN HEIGHTS TOUR HONORS WALT WHITMAN ON HIS 199TH BIRTHDAY: The Walt Whitman Project and St. Francis College will host a reception and walking tour of Brooklyn Heights today to commemorate the 199th birthday of poet Walt Whitman. Whitman was born on May 31, 1819 and lived in Brooklyn for 28 years. The tour includes Brooklyn Borough Hall, Rome Brothers Print Shop, where the first edition of “Leaves of Grass” was printed in 1855, and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, where Whitman worked as an editor from March 1846 to January 1848. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m.and the tour starts at 6 p.m. (via Brooklyn Eagle)

~BP ADAMS: WE SHOULD LEGALIZE POT, BUT NOT LET IT BRING A NEW ‘WILD WEST’The following is an excerpt from an opinion piece by Eric Adams: “The debate over marijuana across America has evolved over the years, in light of wide racial and socioeconomic disparities in arrests and prosecution of recreational marijuana use, as well as a diverse range of voices in healthcare that have studied the substance’s effects on its users. New York should chart a path toward legalization — but take heed of the public-health impacts of habitual, recreational use as well as the possible challenges to public safety.” (via Brooklyn Eagle)

~NO PLATES NEEDED: BROOKLYN’S LATEST RESTAURANT HAS CUSTOMERS EATING RIGHT OFF THE TABLE: Imagine not needing silverware to enjoy an authentic Italian meal. This is what Fortina, located at the DeKalb Market Hall in Downtown Brooklyn, has announced diners will be able to do. The abnormal feast consists of polenta, a cornmeal based mush, which is poured on to the table and adorned with everything from meatballs to braciole. The mound of food is then covered with spicy marinara sauce and immense quantities of parmesan cheese. Visitors may get messy in the process, but it’s worth it to enjoy the special meal. (Time Out via Brooklyn Eagle)

~PLANS REVEALED FOR NEW PARK AT GOWANUS CANAL: The Environmental Protection Agency has mandated that a new 4-million-gallon combined sewage overflow tank be constructed at a salt lot near the Gowanus Canal. To make the idea environmentally friendly, Gowanus by Design, a nonprofit urban design advocacy group, has created a proposal for a “Gowanus Salt Lot Public Park” surrounding the tank. In the plan, all three buildings proposed by EPA would have a green roof. The west side of the lot would be developed as a public park, and Gowanus by Design is also proposing a field station for the site. (6sqft via Brooklyn Eagle)

~ANIMAL ADVOCATES: STOP FEEDING FERAL CATS IN BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK: The Brooklyn Bridge Park Animal Welfare Coalition is reportedly asking Brooklyn residents to stop feeding a colony of feral cats in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The animal welfare group is seeking to lure the cats into traps — from which they will be relocated, treated and offered for adoption — by leaving out food of its own. “When we find that someone’s thrown an entire chicken in the park, the cats are obviously not going to pay attention to our food,” group member Anne Levin said. The coalition says the cats are threatening neighborhood wildlife. (Brooklyn Paper via Brooklyn Eagle)

~DISNEY CHANNEL STAR DYLAN SPROUSE OPENS WINERY IN WILLIAMSBURG: The All-Wise Meadery just opened its doors inWilliamsburg and will specialize in making mead, also known as honey wine. The winery is located across the street from The William Vale hotel and includes a brewing facility and a bar that will open to the public in the fall.Dylan Sprouse, the star of the Disney show “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” has always had an affinity for brewing. “I don’t think there was a moment from 17 years old up until now that I have not had [something] brewing in my home,” Sprouse said. (New York Post via Brooklyn Eagle)

~NEW ARTSY BEER GARDEN IS SOON COMING TO BUSHWICK: Another destination for beer lovers will be opening in Bushwick soon. The Wyckoff Beer Garden opens in June, although the exact date has not yet been announced. The watering hole is set to be an “all outdoor pop-up beer garden that celebrates the beauty of art, food, & beer,” according to the pub’s Instagram page. Located close to the Jefferson L stop, between Wyckoff Avenue and Starr Street, this new boozy spot will be adorned with lots of murals and local artwork, but the beer selection remains a mystery. (Bushwick Daily via Brooklyn Eagle)
