The 85-year-old woman killed in a freak accident at a Gerritsen Beach car wash on Tuesday was remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother who was very much in love with her husband, who was critically injured in the mishap, according to News4 New York.

Joan Tornabene and her 90-year-old husband were leaving a car wash at Avenue U and Gerritsen Avenue on Tuesday when a car-wash worker in a Jeep Cherokee crashed into their car, News4 reported. When the couple got out to inspect the damage, the driver, apparently by accident, hit the gas, running them over several times.
