A gunman opened fire on a group of people outside the Marcus Garvey Apartments in Brownsville late Wednesday, killing an 18-year-old man and injuring four others, according to the New York Daily News.

About two hours after the shooting, the Daily News reported, a group of people, including the sister of the deceased, were gathered outside the emergency room of Brookdale Hospital when a man in the passenger seat of a dark-colored car heading east on Linden Boulevard taunted them. The onlookers, believing he was the person responsible for the shooting, got into their cars and chased him unsuccessfully. Of the wounded, one is in critical condition at Brookdale while the others suffered minor injuries.
