CALIFORNIA — Helicopter Rescues Encampment: A women is hoisted out of the Santa Ana River with the help of a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s helicopter on Tuesday. Three people and a dog were rescued by a helicopter after large amounts of rain fell, trapping the group at a homeless encampment in the river.

TUNISIA – Anti-Government Protests: Riot police patrol in the streets of Tebourba, south of the Tunisian capital, Tunis, during anti-government protests, Tuesday. Tunisia’s prime minister promised Tuesday to crack down on rioters after violent protests over price hikes left one person dead and raised fears of broader unrest in the country that was the birthplace of the Arab Spring. 

SWITZERLAND – Snowfall in the Alps: A general view of the heavy snowfall in Saas Fee village, near Zermatt in the Swiss Alps, Tuesday. Unusually heavy snowfall and a high risk of Alpine avalanches stranded some 13,000 tourists Tuesday in the Swiss resort of Zermatt at the base of the famed Matterhorn mountain. With nearby roads, trains, cable cars, ski slopes and hiking trails into the town closed, Swiss authorities deployed helicopters to ferry some tourists to a nearby village to escape the snow-bound Alpine valley.
