Tom Avitabile, the author of a series of best-selling political techno thrillers, will speak at the Brooklyn Heights Library’s interim branch and sign his fifth and newest book “Give Us This Day.” The book is his third best-seller.

The event, which will include music and light refreshments, will take place on Thursday. Jan. 12 at 6:15 p.m. at 109 Remsen St. in Brooklyn Heights.

The protagonist of “Give Us This Day” is savvy former FBI agent Brooke Burrell, who picks up what appears to be a cushy assignment while her husband is deployed at sea. The job, however, devolves into chaos: murdered witnesses, a hacked Wall Street hedge fund, explosions too close for comfort and “the biggest, most devastating attack ever directed against a city. One that no one saw coming.”

Avitabile’s earlier books include “The Eighth Day,” “The Hammer of God,” “The God Particle” and “The Devil’s Quota.”

As a former electronic engineer who has worked for the House Committee on Science Space and Technology, Avitabile’s books are deeply researched and technically plausible. He is also a film director and producer, musician and senior vice president and creative director of a small New York advertising firm.

The presentation is sponsored by the Friends of the Brooklyn Heights Branch Library and is supported by the Brooklyn Eagle.
