October light in Brooklyn Heights
Eye On Real Estate

Oh, the saturated blue of those skies!
October light is a bane and a blessing for photographers in a picturesque neighborhood like Brooklyn Heights.
It slants through the still-leafy trees at angles that spread somber shadows at all hours of the day on otherwise photogenic homes. Rowhouses that face each other on the opposite sides of narrow streets cast each other into near darkness for long hours.
On the plus side, in spots where the sun does shine through unimpeded — mostly corner locations — the colors of brownstone, brick and clapboard are luminous.
Lucky us. We get to see such things when many Brooklyn Heights residents are locked away indoors at work in Other Neighborhoods. Quel dommage for them.
