Suspect wanted in Sunset Park spoof

Cops are still looking for the main suspect wanted in connection to a burglary that occurred on Monday, January 19 within the confines of the 72nd Precinct.

According to cops, at around 5:10 p.m., the suspect – posed as a water company employee – knocked on the door of a private Sunset Park residence and asked to check the water meter.

The victim, an 81-year-old man, allowed the suspect into his home and walked him downstairs to the meter. As the two were in the basement, cops say, two other suspects walked into the home and swiped a safe containing necklaces, a watch, a ring and assorted paperwork from the second floor bedroom.

All three suspects then fled the location.

There were no reported injuries.
